Thanks to everyone who came out for the meeting at Champps in Lombard on October 2nd. Attendance was a packed house for this event, which made it a very enjoyable evening for all the members

There was a presentation given by John Thompson of Thompson Elevator Inspection Service from Mount Prospect Illinois.

The topic was on the 2015 Elevator inspection updates. John’s insight on the new inspection updates, and the programs knowledge, were appreciated by all the members in attendance. Everyone left this meeting with a clearer understanding of how Thompson inspection program is progressing.

From Thompson Elevator Inspection Service – Attached is the Upgrade guideline as well as the “Upgrade Unit Info Sheet” to be submitted for permit/plan review by Thompson Elevator – this captures the “DNA” of the elevator for processing.  It will accompany the other plan review docs which are 1. Scope of Work on Installer’s Letterhead 2. Spec/Cutsheets of the equipment described in scope of work 3. Drawings Layouts (this is needed for the pit ladders) 4. any additional docs that “tell the story” of the installation.  Submittal will be 3 sets all marked FINAL.  Note: permits are required for all the upgrade work no matter when the work is started.  Note 2: for non-Thompson jurisdiction, please check with the appropriate folks for requirements on plan submittal.

The Code committee report came from James Herrity and John Rearick, two A17 Committee members who were in town this week for a ASME meeting. It was very nice to hear the positive outlook from the past couple months on the positive work that’s been completed with A17.1, A17.2 and A17.3.

November’s meeting RBN & Associates will be presenting on insurance requirements in 2015. You don’t want to miss this presentation.
