One concerning new 2010 HUD Rules 1 of 2 and 2 of 2 and elevator machine room inspections for 2010 and the other is an update regarding  continuing education for the new year. If you’re a member and need a password to this section please send an e-mail to ceamail@flash.net and we’ll get you one.

Charles Dolan Passes Away

I received some sad news today from Peter Dolan. Charlie Dolan, Peter’s Grandfather, passed away on Monday February 15th.  As feisty as Charlie was, I will remember him for his dedication to Atlas Elevator, our industry and to his family.  It wasn’t more than 6-7 years ago when I stopped by Atlas Elevator and Charlie was at his drafting table working away. At the time, I admired his ability to want to continue working at his age and his desire to share his knowledge with others.

Please take a moment to sign his guest book. If you have a story you’d like to share about Charlie please share it in the guest book.

QEI – CEU Credits: .8 (Also Meets State of Illinois 8 hour CEU Requirement)

The Chicago Elevator Association is proud to sponsor the February 5th, A17.3-2005 Code Update Seminar. This event is open to everyone who requires the State of Illinois 8 hours of continuing education for annual maintenance of qualifications. This program also provides for .8 ceu credits of the 1.0 ceu credits required for the annual continuing education maintenance of qualifications for QEI re-certification.

Dick Gregory, Vertex Elevator Consultants, will be presenting the A17.3-2005 Elevator Code seminar.  This provides an excellent opportunity for industry professionals and those new to the industry to learn more about the code as it applies to existing equipment.  This is the current version that State of Illinois inspectors use.  This is the most current version of the National Elevator & Escalator Code for existing equipment.

This event is open to EVERYONE and is ideal for inspectors, managers, sales people, field supervisors and mechanics that need annual continuing educational units for QEI or State of Illinois license re-certification. This program is approved by NAESAI and by the State of Illinois Elevator Safety Board.

Don’t wait! Register for this event today and you’ll be only .2 ceu’s away from satisfying your educational requirements!
